Cape Town, 04 March 2025 – PUMA unveils the Mostro Fey, a harmony of the Mostro’s brave visual language, juxtaposed with the elegant and preppy charm of the Mary Jane.
PUMA redefines the classic Mary Jane with a modern, sports-inspired edge. Adding a breezy, classic twist to one of the brand’s most iconic silhouettes, the refreshed design injects a sense of newness into an archival classic that defined the Y2K era.
Balancing a streamlined look with retro futuristic edge of the Mostro, the new Mostro Fey is defined by a Mary Jane-style band across the open forefoot, in place of the strap closure that features on the original Mostro design. The stitchless upper is composed of a technical micro-ripstop and nubuck on the heel, with a Formstrip-shaped contour flowing across the cross-pollinated silhouette. The original Mostro’s ferocious spiked outsole balances against the Mary Jane’s minimalist upper, creating a unique fusion of style and sport.
Originally released in 1999 and named after the Italian word for monster, the Mostro was instantly celebrated for its unique and brave look. Now, more than 25 years later, the Mostro Fey resurfaces as a modern street-style icon, embracing its rebellious spirit while evolving to embrace the moment.
With this reimagined style, PUMA writes a new chapter for the Mary Jane, a timeless footwear archetype known for its classic shape, rounded toe and single forefoot strap. The Mary Jane was also a style hallmark of the vibrant 1920s and the era’s rebellious flappers. Now, its design DNA is interwoven with PUMA’s archive of tried-and-true sports silhouettes.
The PUMA Mostro Fey is available in “Dark Amethyst-PUMA Black” from 1 March 2025 at PUMA.com, PUMA retail stores and Archive. Price R2 399.
