Cape Town, South Africa, 14 June 2021 — PUMA and French artist AkaBoku are releasing their first collection of footwear and apparel, inspired by the vibrant style that exists within the DNA of both and AkaBoku’s wild and colourful work anchored in nostalgia.

Two years in the making, PUMA x AKABOKU sees art transformed into wearable pieces. Streetstyle silhouettes are infused with bright and bold colours, graphics, unexpected material overlays and AkaBoku’s signature characters such as the snake and the crocodile

“I’m inspired by my life and scenes of life and when creating the collection, I liked the scenes that personified my life with wild animals,” says AkaBoku. “I love to use the snake in different situations because its body can be drawn in different shapes like geometric or liquid.”

Influenced by cartoons, comic books and street graffiti, AkaBoku has expanded a childhood passion for art into a lifelong career creating art on everything from paper and textiles to concrete and ceramics.
