PUMA ATHLETES SMASH THEIR HALF MARATrHON
RECORDS IN BERLIN
Cape Town, 30 March – PUMA athlete Amanal Petros made more history on home soil as he set another personal best and broke his national record at the Berlin Half Marathon.
Wearing FAST-R NITRO™ Elite 3, PUMA’s elite race day shoe engineered to obliterate personal bests, Petros delivered the performance of his lifetime to finish in 3rd place with a time of 59:22 – nine seconds quicker than his time in the race in 2025.
Speaking after the race, Amanal Petros said: “What a feeling. It felt like everything that I have been working towards over the last year with PUMA – and in my recent training programme in Kenya – paid off on the course today. I’m very happy with my performance, and this just makes me even more determined for success at the London Marathon next month.”
There was more joy for PUMA athletes in the women’s race, as Esther Pfeiffer of Germany and Belgium’s Chloe Herbiet also smashed their half marathon personal bests, wearing FAST-R NITRO™ Elite 3.
Four-time national half marathon champion Pfeiffer continued her magnificent form over this distance as she took three seconds off her previous record time, finishing 5th in 67:25. Meanwhile Herbiet, already the reigning European Half Marathon champion and Belgian national record across the marathon and 10k distances, took more than two and a half minutes off her previous half marathon PB as she set another national record with a time of 67:32.
On her success, Chloe Herbiet said: “I came into today feeling confident after a really strong period of training with the PUMA Elite Running Team in North Carolina recently, but that maybe even exceeded my own expectations. To hit such a big personal best and set a new national record feels amazing – and I hope that this is just the start of a huge year for me.”
The records for Amanal Petros and Chloe Herbiet are the latest in a long line of PUMA athletes setting new bars in the FAST-R NITRO™ Elite 3, the brand’s fastest ever speed shoe and most coveted race running shoe of the last 12 months.
Petros and Herbiet are key members of PUMA’s professional road running roster, which also includes[JA1] [ML2] [JA3] Fiona O’Keeffe, the youngest woman to win a US Olympic Trials marathon, and Rory Linkletter, the Canadian half marathon record holder. Building on a standout 2025, today’s results on the streets of Berlin point to another strong year of ahead for the PUMA team.
Looking ahead, Petros will be seeking to maintain his incredible form as he competes at London Marathon 2026 next month, aiming for a place on the coveted podium. For more information, please visit: www.puma.com
