As seen on stage at Rocky’s latest US Tour, the silhouette returns with rugged upgrades including a Vibram® sole, tire-inspired traction, and technical detailing throughout. Driven by trail grit and motorsport heritage, Straycat pushes performance-inspired design into bold new territory.
As PUMA’s Creative Director of over 3 years, A$AP Rocky often visits the PUMA Archive and identifies different silhouettes that inspire him. In his most recent visit, the 2005 Ouninpohja Explorador II was one of those styles – carrying its signature tire tread and rugged outdoor details forward. Rally racing runs through its DNA: aggressive wrap up soles, bold material mixes, now reimagined by Rocky with Vibram enhanced compound rubber, hand distressed materials, and a unique double lacing configuration. This marks Vibram’s first true co-branded outsole, with a cat set near the toe.
“I wanted to rename the shoe Straycat,” said A$AP Rocky. “The name captures the spirit of the outlier, built for rugged terrain racing, now living on the streets.
